Our Junior Strings programme was launched for the first time in November 2024. Our rehearsals take place once weekly after school and consist of mainly violins, along with a couple of cellos and double basses. Junior Strings is open to students from 3rd to 6th class who have been learning whole-class violin during school. This gives these students the experience of playing in an ensemble setting for the first time.

There are many skills needed to play in an ensemble including following a conductor, listening to other parts, and following sheet music. This is all gradually introduced in our rehearsals in an informal way through easy and fun song arrangements. We are lucky to have some of our more experienced players in 5th and 6th class join us to help our junior players also.
